Living Wages for Laundry Workers
Through the Living Wages for Laundry Workers campaign, 2,000 laundry workers have won wage increases and are now making an average 14% more than they were last year. There are still 2,500 laundry workers in our union rallying, marching on the boss, and demanding to negotiate and win living wages.

Campaign Victories

Alsco San Jose
Laundry workers at Alsco Uniforms in San Jose negotiated and won an 8 percent wage increase. They rallied at their workplace and received support from Alsco workers in other locations, pressuring the company to give them better wages.

Crothall La Mirada
Through tough negotiations, the determined workers at Crothall Laundry Services won an incredible 12% wage increase with guaranteed 6% increases for the next two years. They also won a provision that moving forward, no one will earn less than $2.50 above minimum wage.

Aramark Oakland
After a fierce battle at the negotiating table, workers at Aramark Uniform in Oakland, Hayward and San Jose won a new contract that includes 23% wage increases over the three years of the contract.
The campaign began on June 3, 2022, when, in a powerful show of solidarity, delegations of laundry workers in California, Arizona and New Mexico delivered letters to the General Managers at more than 70 laundries, including Aramark Uniform Services, Mission Linen, Crothall Healthcare, Domestic Uniform Rental and more demanding to negotiate living wages.
